A height-adjustable desk is a workstation whose height you change using an electric drive: in a few seconds, the desk rises from a "sitting" position to a "standing" position and back. The main benefit is not to stand all day, but to change your posture regularly. The optimal rhythm is to change positions every 40–45 minutes: your back, neck, and legs receive different loads, and you maintain focus longer.

At TEHNOTABLE, the desk consists of two parts: an electric frame and a tabletop, which we manufacture at our own production facility in the Kyiv region according to the required size, material, and color. Below is everything you need to know before purchasing.

Types of height-adjustable desks

The number of legs and motors determines the desk's load capacity, stability, and height range. The indicators are provided for the class as a whole — please see the specific model page for exact specifications:

A dual-motor desk rises more smoothly and quietly than a single-motor one and has a power reserve — which is why we recommend it for most workstations. Four-leg frames are chosen when there is a lot of equipment on the desk or a heavy natural wood tabletop is used: such a desk does not wobble even in the highest position.

How to choose a height-adjustable desk: 5 parameters

1. Load capacity. Calculate the weight of the tabletop, monitors, arms, and computer tower (if it is attached to the desk), and add a 30–40% margin. A frame working at its limit wears out faster.
2. Height range. The correct height is when your elbows are bent at approximately 90° and your shoulders are relaxed. A range of 60–125 cm is sufficient for most people; for taller users, four-leg frames with a lift up to 132 cm are better.
3. Tabletop size. For one monitor and a laptop, 1200–1400 mm in width is enough; for two monitors — from 1600 mm. A depth of 800 mm or more allows you to keep the monitor at the correct distance from your eyes. An ergonomic cutout in the tabletop provides more space for hands and elbows.
4. Control panel. A remote with memory positions allows you to set the "sitting" and "standing" heights once and then switch between them with one touch.
5. Cable organization. The desk moves, so the wires must move with it. An extension cord is attached to the frame or into a cable management system — then only one wall outlet is needed, and there is order under the desk.

Tabletops: materials and coatings

• MDF with film coating from Italian Serica or Korean LG — a wear-resistant surface for daily work.
• Particle board (chipboard) — an affordable option for a home and office workstation.
• Natural wood — ash, oak, walnut. We coat them with Osmo oil or Sayerlack polyurethane varnish, and we can tint them.
• HPL — high-pressure laminate for intensive use in offices.

Delivery and receipt

Delivery in Ukraine is free for orders over 20,000 UAH. Tabletops are shipped in a wooden crate, and every shipment is insured for the full amount of the order. Upon receipt, inspect the tabletop in the presence of the courier — this way, in case of damage in transit, the carrier will pay compensation. How many motors are needed in a height-adjustable desk?

One motor is enough for a laptop and one monitor. For a standard workstation with two monitors, we recommend a dual-motor desk: it holds 100–125 kg and rises more smoothly. For heavy tabletops and large setups — four-leg frames rated for 150–300 kg.

How often should you change the sitting/standing position?

Aim to change positions every 40–45 minutes. You don't need to stand all day — it is the alternation of positions that provides the benefit.

Can I buy just the frame and use my own tabletop?

How long does it take to make a tabletop?

We manufacture custom-sized tabletops in order of queue, usually up to 3 weeks. A manager will provide the exact timeline when placing the order.
