Two-Leg Height-Adjustable Desks: How to Choose a Stable Frame
A two-leg frame is the gold standard for height-adjustable desks: two telescopic columns, two motors, and a crossbar. This design is found in 9 out of 10 ergonomic desks worldwide – from home setups to IT company offices. However, there's a difference between "just a two-leg frame" and a frame that's a pleasure to work with for years, and it lies in the details: the cross-section and shape of the columns, the precision of the telescopic guides, and the speed and quietness of the drive. Let's analyze this like engineers, using five frames from our assortment as examples.

What's the real difference between these frames?
FlexiRise — an honest budget entry into the world of standing work. Two motors, anti-collision, 4 memory cells, and a 5-year warranty – everything important is there. The compromises are also honest: slower movement (25 mm/s), a starting height of 70 cm – check against the 90/90 rule below if you need a lower position, and a load capacity of 100 kg, which is enough for a tabletop, two monitors, and a powerful PC.
FlexiSpot E5 — the lightest frame in the lineup with the widest adjustment range: 60.5–125.5 cm provides ample room both down and up for almost any body proportions. This is the choice for a home office with a laptop or one or two monitors: its low weight simplifies delivery and assembly, and the white frame color is perfect for light interiors. If your setup is heavy, look at the heavier frames below: they have stiffness built in with kilograms of metal.
BestFit Pro — a workhorse with a safety margin. The enlarged column cross-section of 90×60 mm is the key figure in its passport: the larger the cross-section and the smaller the gaps in the telescope, the less the frame "breathes" at full height. The 58–123 cm range is the lowest starting point in the lineup, important for those whose calculated sitting height is lower than the usual 70–72 cm, a touch controller, 38 mm/s speed, and 125 kg load capacity – a level where you can put anything on the desk and not count kilograms.
DUOERGO — the same power, but in a designer execution: oval legs remove the "office" angularity and make the desk an interior highlight. Technically, it's a full-fledged heavy-duty class – 33 kg of metal, 125 kg load capacity, 40 mm/s travel, and the quietest operation after StreamLine (up to 45 dB). A signature detail you appreciate every day: the touch controller has a built-in USB port with QC3.0 fast charging – your phone charges directly from the controller.
StreamLine — the engineering maximum among two-leg designs. The only frame in Ukraine with bottom power connection: the cable enters the desk through the leg, rather than hanging under the tabletop. This is not just about a clean setup aesthetic – it's also about electrical safety (plug with RESET/TEST protection) and the highest stability in the lineup: according to our measurements, it exceeds typical two-leg frame performance by about one and a half times. Add the fastest movement (40 mm/s), quietest operation (up to 40 dB), and a touch controller – and you get a frame that we ourselves use in the most demanding projects.
Why your monitor subtly shakes when you type: an engineer explains
This is the most common question about two-leg desks, so we'll answer it directly. Any two-leg frame consists of two cantilever columns connected by a beam. For the desk to move up and down, a telescope operates inside each column: a profile slides within a profile, and a micro-gap is constructively built between them – without it, movement would be impossible. When you type vigorously, impulses from keystrokes are transmitted through the tabletop to the columns, these micro-gaps are "taken up," and the top of the structure – the monitor on its stand – responds with vibrations with an amplitude of fractions of a millimeter. The eye perceives this as a slight shaking of the image.
It's important to understand three things. First: this is the physics of a lever, not a defect – the higher the desk is raised, the longer the oscillation arm, so the effect is always more noticeable when standing than when sitting. Second: the amplitude directly depends on the quality of the frame – the cross-section of the columns, the precision of the telescope manufacturing, and the rigidity of the beam. Look at the frame weights in the table: from 21.5–22 kg for the light FlexiSpot E5 and FlexiRise to 32–33 kg for BestFit Pro and DUOERGO, and 39 kg for StreamLine – these kilograms are not "extra," they are metal in the column walls and beam that contributes to rigidity. That's why the play is minimal on the reinforced BestFit Pro columns, and we truly call StreamLine the most stable two-leg frame in Ukraine. Third: the effect can be reduced almost to zero with a proper setup – a monitor on an arm mounted to the tabletop vibrates less than on a standard stand, heavy items should be placed closer to the columns, and the desk should be leveled on all supports.
If your scenario involves a mechanical keyboard with broad strokes at a height of 120 cm and two 32-inch monitors, also consider our four-leg frames: there, vibrations are dampened by the geometry itself. But for the vast majority of users, a quality two-leg frame is the optimal balance of price, stability, and appearance.
What desk height do you need: the 90/90 rule
A common mistake is to choose the frame range "by height." Height is a poor guide: for the same 177 cm, one person has longer legs, another a longer torso, and their comfortable tabletop height will differ by several centimeters. The correct guideline is two right angles. Sit in a chair so that your feet are flat on the floor, and your knees are bent at 90°. Relax your shoulders, bend your elbows at 90° – the distance from the floor to your elbow is your ideal tabletop height when sitting. The same rule applies when standing: elbow at 90°, shoulders relaxed. A real-world example: a person 177 cm tall works sitting at a height of 70 cm – while someone else of the same height might need 66 or 74.
And one technical detail that is often forgotten: the range in the table is for the frame without a tabletop. Add the thickness of your tabletop (from 18 to 40 mm) – that's the height your elbows will be at. Therefore, choose a frame so that your calculated height is within the range with a margin, not at its edge.
How to choose your frame: a quick cheat sheet
Choose FlexiRise if you need a reliable desk for work and study with the best entry price. Choose FlexiSpot E5 if a wide height range for unusual height, a white frame, and lightness of construction are important. Choose BestFit Pro if you work at the desk for 8+ hours, have a heavy setup, or want maximum rigidity for a reasonable price. Choose DUOERGO if the desk should be not only a tool but also an interior decoration – oval legs and USB charging in the controller do their job. Choose StreamLine if you want everything at once: stability, quietness, speed, and a setup without any visible cables.
Each frame is sold and serviced by TEHNOTABLE in Ukraine, comes with a warranty of up to 5 years, and is available for testing in our showroom in Vyshneve near Kyiv. Come and type at different heights – the difference between frames is best felt with your fingers.
