Osmo Oil: Naturalness and Renewal

The oil penetrates deeply into the wood, preserving its natural texture, warmth and "alive" look. We use a specialized tabletop oil, Osmo TopOil , which is safe for contact with food.

✅ Advantages:

• Maximum natural look and pleasant to the touch coating

• The tree "breathes", remains natural

• Easy to update: you can restore only the damaged area without sanding the entire countertop

⚠️ Disadvantages:

• Requires regular maintenance : it is advisable to renew the oil coating every 6–12 months

• Less resistant to hot cups, spills and mechanical damage

• Not suitable for very intensive use without additional care

Sayerlack varnish: reliability and simplicity

We use Sayerlack polyurethane silky-matte varnish (20% gloss) - this is a professional industrial coating for furniture that provides durability and protection.

✅ Advantages:

• Creates a protective film that prevents scratches, moisture, coffee, and antiseptics

• Does not require regular updating - lasts 5–10 years without losing its appearance

• Has a pleasant silky-matte shine , without excessive gloss

⚠️ Disadvantages:

• The structure of the wood is less noticeable because the varnish forms a surface film.

• Local repairs are more complicated: in case of damage, the entire countertop will have to be re-sanded.

What to choose for a computer desk?

Our conclusion:

• Do you prefer naturalness and are ready to take care of the wood? Choose Osmo oil finish .

• Want minimal effort, maximum protection and stability? We recommend Sayerlack .

In the basic configuration, we use varnish as a more reliable solution for daily office or home work.
But at the client's request, we will be happy to produce a countertop with a natural oil finish.
